Richard qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1981 and spent 10 years working in the City of London in Corporate Finance including stock exchange listings, acquisitions, management buy outs and Department of Trade and Industry investigations and also as Finance Director of a UK property division of an international conglomerate.
In 1988, together with his wife Nan Wimms, they set up a blossoming UK travel business, with Richard joining full time in 1992. Thus began Vacations to America, which has expanded from its initial specialist regional programs to covering the whole of the USA and more recently, to Canada as well. Their specialist program to New England, launched in 1996, was one of the very first in the UK, and they remain a leader in providing quality, customized itineraries to this region.
